Stones, bottles and paint thrown at police [second consecutive night]

Stones, bottles and paint have been thrown at police in the Glenmachan Street area of south Belfast.

It is the second consecutive night of disorder in the area.

On Monday night, cars were damaged and petrol bombs were thrown at police.

Land Rovers and officers wearing riot gear are at the scene.

Police have advised the public to avoid the area.

A spokesperson said disruption was expected to continue for a number of hours.

'These actions have serious consequences'

On Monday night, Ch Supt Lindsay said police would continue to patrol the area on Tuesday night to prevent anti-social or disorderly behaviour.

“I would urge the young people who have been involved and their parents or guardians to seriously consider the impact of their actions on the local community, but also on their own futures," he said.

"These actions have serious consequences. My message is simple, walk away and don’t get involved in any trouble".

No injuries to police officers or members of the public were reported.

  1. Who’d win, the PSNI or fourteen 12 year olds? The answer might not surprise you.

  2. They do this because nothing gets done about it.

Give their ma a £500 fine and stop their DLA, and you’d see a change very quickly
