  1. Actually seems surprisingly little considering Ireland’s size. Why are they so slow?

  2. Right on Ireland. It might seem like they have a long way to go but every step is progress. I would not be surprised that the hours they are getting sunshine that this is doing a good 15-20% of the load. If they increased their solar by a factor of 5 or 6 it would likely cover nearly all their daytime (when the sun is out) needs, anything more than that will be to compensate for clouds and go right to energy storage.

    I use the figure for max saturation of 1GW solar per 100,000 people and 2.5GWh of storage per 100,000 people. Then 1-2GW of wind per million people.
