AI is power hungry it has caused Google’s greenhouse gas emissions to sore by 48% since 2019 Google has continuously launched new AI applications from B to Gemini and given them high priority but generative AI needs a lot of juice for example creating an image with artificial intelligence uses 4 and 1 half times more power on average than the classic Google search that doesn’t use AI since Google has recently Incorporated Gemini into its search engine its power consumption will likely go up even further Google is not alone Microsoft’s carbon emissions also went up 29% since 2020 so the AI industry’s environmental footprint will continue to be an issue Tech firms have already moved forward on using green energy to power their Ser of hars but it’s also up to companies to make their AI tools more efficient fine-tuned models reportedly use 30 times less energy than badly optimized ones and that is good because

  1. This is because no one has any joined up thinking especially the greens. Why not reuse the heat that's just dumped to atmosphere. In Deutschland you had in the 1970s/1980s ? a coal power station with no emissions heat or exhaust probably closed down by the greens as it used coal.

  2. Ok and human carbon emissions are almost nothing compared to the emission by our oceans. Remember, the environmental footprint that 'you' leave behind is not worth trillions of dollars.
