Last time he was in the liberals in the EU went absolutely deranged and were so obsessed about doing the opposite they invited in millions of migrants completely unchecked, so I shudder to think what they’ll do this time.
Trump showed himself to be a dangerously unreliable ally when he was president. No loyalty, no tact or subtlety, and also just… kind of dumb. Just basic ignorance on foreign affairs.
So I imagine it comes down to the countries that go “we need to be independent from the US because who knows when they’ll elect a guy like that again” and “we’ll try to work with him, as best as anyone can, because it’ll only be 4 years and hey, maybe he’ll die in office”
