I don’t like the part of history when stupid Varus lost the legions, but I do like the part when Germanicus avenged them, Empire strikes back.
People love history in a superficial manner many times and it doesn’t help there is 45 trillion documentaries about the 2nd World War and it’s hard to find a nice book on the Franco-Prussian War.

German history is actually fairly interesting though, the unification of Germany from 1866-1871 is a favourite of mine.
My favorite German era is the Weimar Republic
Watch one WWII documentary on Youtube and then have thumbnails of the Austrian mustache guy pop up everywhere!

Widukind and the Saxon wars…i know it predates Germany by quite a bit but it happened on their turf.

So much mediaeval and early modern German history. How couldn’t there be, when it was divided into so many bickering little polities. It’s like Italy or Ancient Greece or many periods in India and China.
