Cockney ATM in Hackney

  1. This is the ATM equivalent of those awful cryptic/incomprehensible toilet signs you get in trendy bars.

  2. This is like when London tries to get all cute with its station names. A good little giggle if you understand it, but you know some poor person wants their money and has no idea what button to press

  3. Imagine if you’re a tourist who doesn’t speak fluent English and this came up 🥲😂

  4. Do cockneys and locals actually appreciate this? There’s merch and stuff up here in Sheffield that say “t’pub’ and ‘alreet’ and such. Anyone who actually lives here thinks it’s bollocks.

  5. Don’t worry we get this rubbish up north too, in Sheffield every council sign is “purrit int bin”, “turn tha engine off”, “ey up!”

  6. I have lived in Central London my entire life and I have never heard anyone use “Rattle & Tank” for bank or use “Sausage & Mash” for cash.

Also, who has ever used “Charlie Sheen” for screen?

  7. Sausage and mash – cash.
Rattle and tank balance – bank balance.
    Charlie sheen – screen.
Dog and bone top up – phone top up.
