I believe anyone with a moustache like that over myself when it comes to drinking etiquette
Especially since my version is shots then sleeping beside some bins
That guy should be taken seriously. He is one of the biggest names in Whisky. Richard Paterson was the master blender for Whyte and Mackay and now is at Dalmore* edited.
He comes across as a bit of a tube. But, he’s excellent at what he does.
I thought this was satire for the first minute or two

This could be a fast show sketch from the 90’s. Throwing it away at the start was perfect.
This is Richard Paterson, master blender at Whyte & Mackay (owner of Dalmore, Jura, Fettercairn, Whyte & Mackay blend, etc.), one of the most experienced multi-generational Scotch whisky blenders alive today. He is also a famous showman, and I think what you’re missing here is that this whole routine is a ‘bit’. Usually, this is performed in front of a room full of people who are there to drink whisky, have fun, and learn a thing or two along the way. (The core parts of what he’s saying are completely correct for when it comes to ‘tasting’/analysing whisky: make sure the glass is clean, use decent water, get your nose in and don’t be scared to sniff, hold it in the mouth and don’t knock it back.)
