Kamala Harris Supporter Behind ‘White Women: Answer the Call’ Reveals Zoom Call Had Nearly 200,000 Women and Raised Over $8.5 Million in Less Than 90 Minutes
– During an appearance on MSNBC with host Katie Phang, Shannon Watts, one of the women who put together the “White Women: Answer the Call” Zoom call that set a record for Zoom attendees, explained how it came together and proudly announced the most recent donation total that was raised for Vice President Kamala Harris.
Watts, the nation’s preeminent advocate for decreasing gun violence and the founder of Moms Demand Action, was prompted by host Phang, “I was so excited to have you on the show, because look, I dialed in for that Zoom call on Thursday. I was even doing it remotely from a plane, but I was so excited to hear the energy on that call. “
“But I need to know, at last count it was nearly 200,000 women that raised over $8.5 million in less than 90 minutes, but I think these numbers are still growing. So what are the latest on that call? “ she asked.
“I woke up to an email this morning saying that we have now raised over $11 million from a two-hour call, which is pretty astronomical,” Watts reported. “And I’m just so thrilled and grateful for everyone who has donated.”
II mean, I have to pick up my jaw off the floor a little bit, because I saw from followers and people on social media, a lot of these people, that gave the money from this call, these are some first-time donors, number one, but number two, a lot of them signed up for recurring contributions because they believe so much in this,” Phang replied.
Watts gave credit to earlier mass Zoom calls made by Black women and explained to Phang, “When i woke up Tuesday morning I thought, are white women going to do this, too?”
“We have a lot of political power and economic power that we can tap into and so I just put a tweet out saying, you know, who is in and the response was just overwhelming,” she recalled. “And in two days we were able to pull this huge call together; it was the largest Zoom call in history. We kept crashing because there were so many people on the platform, and we had to go to other social media streaming services, in all about 200,000 people, as you said saw.”
Wow! The enthusiasm is palpable. This is an incredible start. 4 years ago I was unimpressed by Harris, but not any more. I was also not happy about giving up the incumbency advantage and risking chaos at the convention. Looks like I was wrong about it all, and I couldn’t be happier!

Seems like she’s also going to make big gains among Latinos and black voters which could put goergia and NC in play. She’s already polling 2 points behind trump in goeriga which is in the margin of error. She just needs a few more points overall to really bring her in the lead

Woman and young people really need to get out and vote. These angry old guys want to control woman, removing their right to vote and determine what goes on with their bodies and their health. As a male, I say that is bullshit.
Young people need to get out and vote because these angry old white guys want to control you and force you into a master-slave relationship, that is worse than what the 1% is doing to everyone now.

Umm…I’m not too involved with politics, but why are they still raising money? Like wouldn’t the money raised from Bidens campaign have been transferred to her, as she is the sitting VP? Or is there a way to view utilization of campaign funds? Just seems weird how quickly they raise money and how we never really hear what it’s spent on
