Had a wonderful visit, my first, to York. Highly recommend exploring this place. Even the geese love walking about!

  1. My favourite UK city break destination. Go about twice per year.

  2. It’s alright for a visit, but it’s no Leeds. I don’t think I’d want to live there.

Edit: Downvote me all you want but it is expensive and swimming in tourists like me. The worst Leeds has is students and it is easy to live away from them.

  3. Anything you recommend doing in particular? Going for 2 nights in September and never been before

  4. Photos 2/3/4 are weirdly generic for an “I love York” post lol. Expected to see some city sights!

But yes York is wonderful I’ve been many times in my life and will go many more times.

  5. I not been to York for a few years, so many more cities, towns I would like to visit in the United Kingdom

  6. Lucky enough to live in York myself; nothing quite like mooching into town underneath a medieval castle gate (bar) – we even have a permit to park in Henry VIII’s Manor House. The mad old bastard was forward thinking enough tarmac a car park around the back for easy venturing into town for shopping.

  7. I misread this as New York and thought it looked unusually quaint

  8. York is host to a really good retro games shop as well (sore thumbs) which is absolutely crammed full of interesting stuff. I regret not buying more when I was there last time.

  9. Agreed! I live in Norwich and York is the only UK city I’ve visited which has a similar vibe; It’s got obvious history, is beautiful to look at, the centre’s not massively sprawling, there’s a nice cultural buzz and it feels really safe and friendly (from what I experienced anyway).

  10. I love york too, try and get there at least once a year.
