  1. And Leeds United remained in great form until the club staked everything on securing Champions League football on a regular basis and didn’t… It’s kind of weird watching a film like **The Damned United** if you aren’t aware that Leeds were once of the great teams.

  2. Woah, cool! I have some in my house from around 1955(?, need to check) found during renovations. This is on another level!

  3. I’d love to know who the ref was. My grandad was a referee back then and I’m always trying to spot games he officiated at, as a linesman or a ref. Unlikely it was him but you never know.

  4. There I was thinking “oh, I didn’t expect anti smoking ads back in the 20’s” but nope, it’s an ad for cigarettes.

  5. The cigarette ad on page 3 is particularly eye opening. I don’t mean because normally you’d expect a topless woman on page 3. I mean because it’s addressing the reader as if they’re a smoker, which the majority probably would have been back then. These days it’s way less common to come across someone smoking cigarettes in daily life. It’s quite remarkable how much has changed in 100 years.

  6. Mildly interesting? This is absolutely fascinating! Great find and thank you for sharing.

  7. “Dick Kerrs FC”

So many teams I’d never heard before, but that one takes the cake.
