Yes I really like the semi finalists and medal fencers being announced on the balcony and arriving down the grand staircase. It seems like some gala they are being presented at.
Love the aesthetics
That wrought metalwork is so cool! I assume they put up the screens over the glass to keep the sun from shining in anyone’s eyes?
The whole metallic structure was designed by Gustave Eiffel. A masterpiece
This Olympics has to have the best visuals in games history you’d have to think. Beach volleyball, fencing, surfing, equestrian….
France have done so well integrating their beautiful architecture into the games – Grand Palais (fencing), Eiffel Tower (beach volleyball), Versailles (equestrian), Les Invalides (archery). Probably many others that I have overlooked. They have set a new standard!
It was even more amazing after it became dark outside, simply amazing.
Before you duel to the death, you must first descend graciously down this obscenely long staircase. Also, it kinda sucks France lost to Japan in men’s epee finals, crowd must have been furious 😛
Amazing place to have it! I went to an art exhibit there and it was the coolest building.
*every* venue is amazing. The gorgeous historic buildings, the constant Eiffel Tower in the background and these ancient interiors. The best looking Olympics ever.
Of course, it’s Paris. When it’s in LA next it’ll be decorated with drugged out homeless and other great American sights.
The athletes entering by walking down the stairs was badass.
The Grand Palais hosts some incredible fashion (Chanel) shows. Seeing it without the theatre allows its beauty to shine through in a way I hadn’t seen before.
Was in Paris in January and stuck my camera through the scaffolding to see how it looked. I can’t wait for all the renovations to be done.
I thought it looked amazing. Can they do concerts there?
Did you see dressage?
I might get hate but I’m still going to ask…
Why is fencing still an event?
I feel like this, equestrian, and rifle shooting are antiquated events that don’t really make sense in the modern age.
The Fencing, too, has been amazing. I’ve never been so captivated by a sporting event.
Absolutely epic stuff.
Paris must be remarkable. I know from the air it looked amazing.
The best part to me is always the stairs, at the entrance. For some reason it’s very difficult to get a clear shot even from a final. It’s all behind copyrighted videos.
So far Paris has been remarkable, and one of the best olympics I’ve seen aesthetic wise.

Kinda reminded me of one time where they had a [grand prix in like a banquet hall](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rT_memoG5mY). It’s definitely a vibe lol
