Dude’s bike broke and he came from behind to get a gold in the last two laps. Way to go mate, that was incredible! Koretzky for France almost got it, and just got the silver. So exciting!

  1. I don’t no the rules of biking but isn’t the last overtake really dangerous ?

  2. Anyone noticed how much booing has happened so far this year? Feel like I’ve never noticed this much before

  3. What a run. Fought his way to first, suffered a flat tyre, dropped way down the pack and fought his way back to first all over again. A worthy winner if there ever was one.

And that salty French crowd lol.

  4. Caught the end it was intense – that finally overtake was crazy!

The crowd didn’t sound too happy lol

  5. Great race, super exciting to watch. I understand the French disappointment but booing is still poor form.

  6. That last two lap battle was _incredible_. I hope the French can accept that last exchange in time.

  7. I don’t think Pidcock intentionally changed his line to impede the French rider, so I’d guess it’s a legal pass.

If anything the French rider seemed to try to block Pidcock.

  8. Fantastic race! Tom needs get ready for 10 years of beer tossing in his face on the Tour de France

  9. Hopefully they don’t boo when he collects the gold, but a bit of the old rivalry after the race will be forgotten about

  10. Could have used a picture of him in his GB kit, or at least on the right type of bike.

But you’re right it was a great race.

Cutthroat way to take the lead but that’s bike racing.

  11. Really not a fan of the French booing. This is supposed to be a respectful event.

    But Pidcock you legend.

  12. Fantastic race from the medalists.
Pidcock just accelerate more then Koretzky in the moment. Then as Koretzky realizes it, it was to late.
Pidcock was in front if it came to an crash the french would be in trouble.

But I think that would be in race incident anyway.

Without the puncture it would be an boring win for Pidcock not an epic race.

  13. Then the crowd all boo’d him after that superhuman performance, shameful really

  14. Crazy to see a Yamaha Niken in the background of the pic. Don’t see too many of those in the wild!

  15. Us Belgians always salivating heavily when we see a sport with bicycles in it.

Btw, Pidcock is hugely popular around here all year round. What a great lad. His interview on the day England played Spain in the Euro’s was legendary.

‘Mate, the game doesn’t even need to be played, Spain are 100 percent going to win it. But I had England in the final, so that’s great.’

And so he went on to win the prediction poule of INEOS. He said that as an England fan as well.

  16. French crowd are a disgrace for booing like that. They even booed him getting his gold medal on the podium. Disgusting to ruin any athletes big olympic moment like that. Pidcock was awesome today.

  17. Hell of a race that. Tom is world-class. His ability to pull it back after the flat was outstanding.

Amazing fight at the end, too. He saw the inside line and went for it. Fortune favours the brave. What a heroic effort.

The reaction of the French ‘fans’ was hugely disappointing.

    NICE ONE PIDDERS!

  18. Can’t believe the French booing Tom for winning
What bad losers, every winner should be cheered

I am very disappointed the host nation booing because they lose

  19. Incredible ride. Not sure anything will ever top his stage win on Alpe d’Huez, but this is as close as its going to get.

  20. I love how with some athletes you have to search which country they represent and with some the name just gives it away….

  21. This final overtake was… amazing tbh! Only Pidcock can do this, what an amazing ride that was. He was the strongest so clearly a well deserved victory. And this comes from a French who’s also very happy with the silver medal for Koretzky!

  22. I guess I’ve been living under a rock; first time I’ve noticed the corporate sponsorship on the jerseys.

  23. What an exhilarating race. Pidcock was phenomenal in regaining the lost time and then timed his attack perfectly

  24. French spectators showing zero Olympic spirit.
Why hold it in a country so hostile to tourists and foreigners?

  25. I think they should change the rules and let someone change their bike when they’re in the post. Its ridiculous you lose so much time on something like this
