  1. the japanese are doing amazingly this olympics! medal after medal I swear 😆

  2. I felt so bad for the one Chinese guy, but it was so amazing watching the Japanese team just being hyped!

The Japanese really are having an excellent Olympics so far, which is great to see. Their turn hosting was so fucked by COVID so I’m glad they seem to getting more of that Olympic magic this time around.

  3. I think if the Chinese athlete had fallen just once, they might have won it, but what are the odds, congratulations to the Japanese for not giving up… considering they were paired with Chinese team and one of the Japanese athlete fell off the pommel horse in rotation 2… this was exciting to watch … wow

  4. Congrats!! Haven’t gotten to see it here on TV yet but from what you guys are saying it’ll be worth watching.

  5. After their near loss in Tokyo, great to see them come back and win here. Amazing job by Hashimoto to land that final high bar knowing they’d probably win gold if he managed it.

  6. Gutting for China but Japan just never gave in. If the rest of the Gymnastics is as dramatic as this then we’re in for a treat over the next few days.

  7. Honestly, the Chinese choked, couldn’t hold on to the bar, twice and then couldn’t stick landing. They choked like a dying dog….

Joking aside though, what a competition! Wire to wire with bunch of twists and turns. Absolutely edge of your seat stuff!

  8. This is why I love the Olympics!! Watching the men’s team finals was so fun between this and how excited the Americans were for their bronze

  9. This was lovely to watch. They all had such emotion competing today and watching everyone, not just the Japan team was I think a really special day. They obviously won and their emotions really show it and they were honestly incredible.

  10. How times have changed. Gymnasts were once expected to be emotionless (no matter what happens) and that’s across all nationalities.

Once upon a time, the former Soviet Union dominated gymnastics. Their gymnasts were viewed as robot-like by the global public. They never expressed emotion but always looked quite downtrodden. One day, the world revered Olga Korbut started crying at the Olympics after a bad routine. People were shocked and it was the first time that they essentially saw the Soviet Bloc athletes as human, rather than emotionless robots. That expression of emotion by Olga Korbut is touted as doing more politically for East/West relations during the Cold War than any politician during that timeframe – including Gorbachev.

  11. I keep trying to watch the replay on Peacock but it’s HORRIBLE. There is either no commentary or the commentary is drowned out by audience noise.
