I am really curious why such a well-equipped and important unit like a mechanized brigade would be fielding such old small arms? I mean most mechanized units seem to have ak74s, brens, or other more capable rifles.
That has to be the coolest looking kit I have seen.
Modern western full multicam kit and uniform, a lot of armor incl. rare thigh armor, western helmet, NVG monocle, and still just a rifle designed in the 60s with no optic or any other modern improvement.

But not 308/3006 velocity
Weight vs speed equals destructive power
Most opt for smaller higher velocity options
Ability to carry more rounds
Could also be ammo availability
