Question about booking a train ticket

So, I'm planning a trip this year that will include going to Oktoberfest in Munich. Prior to Munich, though, we'll be in Strasbourg. The train schedule I'm looking at leaves on September 29, with a change in Stuttgart. However, I see this message for the train going from Stuggart to Munich

The train is cancelled between Köln Hbf and München Hbf. Please check for any changes to your journey prior to departure.

I've taken a screenshot, here

The way I read it, it means they've preemptively cancelled that train 2 months prior to departure for whatever reason. But if that's the case, why is the ticket still for sale? When I go to the seat selection, I see many seats already reserved, so that means people have booked this train already. But I just can't shake the idea that this is a cancelled route. Maybe I'm misunderstanding something?

I've only used DB a couple times and it was several years ago. Could someone with more experience using DB help me out? Thanks!

  1. The train is cancelled between Köln and München, but it starts in Münster, so it still runs between Münster and Köln. That’s where people can buy tickets and reserve seats for.
