@FabrizioRomano: Chido Obi Martin to Man United, here we go! Talented striker leaves Arsenal and he’s just accepted Man Utd proposal. Pathway key for Chido who’s turned down higher bids from Germany to sign for Man Utd.

  1. We offered him £15k per week which is already insane for a 16 y/o, Utd offered him £30k p/w + him & his family are Man Utd fans, no brainer who he would choose.

The pathway reason is bullshit to me. Arsenal don’t have a recognized out and out 9 in their youth system + Jesus is injury prone/probably gone next year. He would’ve gotten a real shot.
    – Utd have Zirkzee and Højlund, who are both 23 or younger.
    – Rejected Dortmund too, who is obviously a club well known to develop youngsters extremely well

He had his heart set on Man Utd. Nothing else. If my favourite club offered me that kind of money as a 16 y/o, I’m taking it ALL DAY. No brainer from his end

  2. Makes sense. United push youth and it’s always been the way even when they were the best team in Europe.

It’s easy to buy better players in the moment and block their pathway and it’s easy to make excuses for it as a fanbase. The juggling act between the two really sets the elite managers apart.

  3. One year at £30k a week for a teen is absolutely insane. Jfc what I’d do for a year of that salary.
