  1. Oh no! Now we can’t laugh and celebrate the terrorist attack like we did for the last few posts because Al-Qaeda is in the headline!

  2. I’m slightly confused.

    >The ambush occurred on the same day a Tuareg rebel movement known as the Permanent Strategic Framework for Peace, Security and Development (CSP-PSD) said it had killed and injured dozens of Malian soldiers and Wagner mercenaries during days of fighting at the border town of Tinzaouaten.

Would indicate those were 2 separate fights, but:

    >The Malian army and Wagner forces were ambushed after they withdrew from Tinzaouaten, which they had tried to seize from Tuareg-led separatists.

    >Two security sources said the convoy came under attack from both the separatists and JNIM in remote terrain, but that the extent of coordination between the two groups was unclear.

    >Malian authorities have accused Tuareg and jihadist groups of collaborating.

would imply those were the same ambush?

Or did the same convoy get beaten first by Tuaregs and later by Al Quaeda?

It’s not clear to me what exactly happened. Or what exactly Reuters is trying to say happened? There’s always a possibility that one of the groups involved is flat out lying and Reuters is just reporting their claims, while unable to verify.

  3. This article makes no sense. Is JNIM saying they ambushed them in a separate incident, coordinated/attacked with the Tuareg militia (CSP-PSD), or are they simply claiming credit, like they sometimes do? Last time I checked, the CSP-PSD and JNIM were enemies.

Reuters seems to take their word for it (and the Mali government’s), and make an inference that doesn’t necessarily follow.
