Is this a scam? I bought a SIM card from Müller’s in the hopes of setting up a simple phone number that I could use for apps (I’m having a bit of a health issue and need to make lots of appointments and phone calls).
I followed the instructions on the Müller’s site to activate the sim. At the end, they told me to wait for up to an hour to activate the Sim.
Instead, I got an email from a 3rd party company that appears to be requesting copies of my ID’s and proof of residence and bank card. That sounds extremely scammy to me. Why would I need all this just for a simple phone sim?? Is this normal here? I’m not applying for a government job, just a run of the mill cheap rate phone number.
What should I do? I do not have any intention of sending pictures of my passport to some party I didn’t even authorize. I’ve already entered all my pertinent info on the Müller’s website. I do not want to send more information to a party I’ve never heard of.

You’re required to prove your identity. That’s been the law for some years now. It’s an anti terrorist measure. Contact Müller and ask them about it if you want to be sure it’s not a scam.
