I loved how excited the silver medalist was during the medal ceremony. In that event when swimming against Katie Ledecky silver was what most of them were competing for.

The fastest anyone not named Katie Ledecky has ever done this event is 8 seconds slower than she went today. Today’s time (even while being an Olympic Record) was about 10 seconds slower than her Personal Best.
that’s after 15 minutes of swimming, so maybe not that mind-blowing

Ledecky is great but women’s distance swimming is among the lowest caliber of any sport. I can’t think of anything I would place below it. The top female swimmers other than Ledecky simply don’t swim those distances.
