Violence erupted outside Downing Street as far-Right protesters clashed with riot police in a demonstration in the wake of the attack subsequent riots in Southport.

Crowds descended on central London at 7pm for the Enough is Enough rally, promoted by Tommy Robinson and actor Laurence Fox following the killing of three young girls at a Taylor Swift dance class in the Merseyside town.

The Metropolitan Police issued a warning that “any disorder will be dealt with swiftly”, instructing protesters to remain within the immediate immediate vicinity of the Downing Street entrance gate and to leave by 8.30pm.

However, scenes of violence have broken out, with crowds launching flares and bottles towards police, as well as marching down Whitehall singing chants of “England til I die” and “we want our country back”.

It comes after a riot broke out last night outside a mosque in Southport in response to the killing of three young girls attending a holiday club this week. More than 50 officers were injured in the riot, with four arrests made so far.

Supt Neil Holyoak, who is leading the policing of tonight’s protest in London, said previously: “Everyone has a right to protest and we continue to balance the right to lawful protest with everyone’s right to go about their lives without fear or serious disruption – which is why we have put conditions in place and deployed more officers across London.

“I urge everyone to exercise their right to protest calmly and within the law. Any disorder will be dealt with swiftly.”

  1. Some would say the police want a reaction with this blatant 2 tier policing

Get the real Brits to do the work they don’t want to because that’s where it’s heading

  2. Wow, people are just standing and then dragged away. Very different treatment than the Leeds protest. What is happening here? 😒

  5. The existence of two-tier policing is proved by what happened to the journalist Martin Daubney, who was standing around and suddenly found himself cuffed by a Police Officer for no reason. Once he explained who he was he was released and to be fair, Daubney said he was treated very well. But it is the fact he was cuffed in the first place for just standing there is what chills me and proves to me that two-tier policing really does exist. Never saw it in Harehills, never saw it on any of Gaza marches…..

  6. The violence was all from the police imo .They shouldn’t have wound peaceful people up by kettling and forced detainment. They did their best to arrest peaceful people for even opening their mouths. What had that 73 year old lady with the pacemaker done.so sad for our once peaceful country

  7. So if they knew the suspect was white, wouldn't they have marched? Crime has no race. Whether it is immigrant or native, this a satan in the flesh.

  8. Sir Robert Peel developed the definition of ethical policing i.e. Peelian Principles known as Policing by Consent with the Police regarded as Citizens in Uniform. They exercise their powers to Police fellow Citizens with the implicit consent of those fellow Citizens.
Sadly this and other, what could have been peaceful protests, prove that the Peelian Principles have been discarded.
