This was bigger than just this, they had 2 actually disabled people on bench while the rest of the team was pretending. When one was recognized he wrote an article outing the team, probably trying to save his own skin. The organizer of this who collected millions in this scam was fined about 5.4k and let go. Several other teams, if not all, were running the same con but since all attention was on Spain they just quietly left as the entire thing was cancelled from the paralympics for several years due to the scandal
