A little girl is overlooking the ruins of Warsaw. Her identity is a mystery; she might be a survivor of the 1944 Uprising. The cars in the background have brought ex-US President Herbert Hoover to the location, as part of his post-war relief effort. Hoover’s photographer R. Kenny took the picture.
