Ukraine gets its first F-16 fighter jets to help in fight against Russia

Ukraine has received the first F-16 fighter jets, that it has sought for months, to fight back against an onslaught of Russian missile strikes, a U.S. official confirmed to the Associated Press. Ukraine has been pushing its Western allies for F-16s for Ukraine for months, saying they were critically needed to fight back against the onslaught of missiles Russia has fired against it.   26. pea brained comments from the peanut gallery obviously never played falcon 4.0. U can fly this thing in DCS world now because it's been around since the late 70's. Nothing is really going to change dramatically because RU tactic is to rely on numerous Anti Air missiles that have a very long range. Ukraine being formerly a part of the ussr also uses the same tactic. All aircraft have to be very careful and stay back from the front on both sides.

  28. Ukraine is losing 800+ soldiers per day as a result of Zelenskiy's failed counterattacks. Ukraine is in such a situation that due to the lack of soldiers, it is sending prisoners from prisons to the army. It is now known to everyone that America has lost this war. The winner is Russia, which is advancing every day.

  32. An absolutely useless, pointless, needless escalation of the conflict!!! It's symbolic ONLY! F-16s alone are nothing more than a thumb in the eye of Russia, and will have no strategic or tactical impact. Without full air superiority of the theater, which also requires AWACS, ECM and the rest of the strike package to function, it's just there to look pretty, behind the lines.

    #1) Only a minority have ever claimed the F-16 would be a game changer. The authoritative sources have stated they will help, and there's no question that's true.
    #2) Yes, it's inevitable some F-16's will crash. S*** happens in combat.
    #3) The F-16s indeed require very clean and relatively smooth runways. This will be one of Ukraine's challenges
    #4) Ukrainians will need to defend the airfields where F-16s are kept. It's likely western spy satellites will provide early warning on incoming missiles to bolster their defense.
    #5) Initial missions will keep the F-16's generally out of range of anti-air systems. However, the U.S. has provided some 'HARM' missiles, and the F-16s might venture in to deploy HARMs.
    #6) Ukrainian pilots are HIGHLY motivated. They will quickly learn.
    #7) To those too lame to appreciate Ukraine's efforts to survive, GET REAL. Slava Ukraine.
