  1. I hate saying it but there are certain countries where racism is very present in society, I don’t want to jump into conclusions because I’d like to not blame it on racism given the fact that this could just be a case of someone being led by emotions, the French judoka handled it very well

  2. Good to see that Teddy Riner managed to keep his cool against this behavior. That prevented this incident going from bad to worse.

  3. It’s shocking that you could make it to the Olympics in judo without being able to control your temper and aggression more than this. Wouldn’t be shocked to learn this person has a history of being disqualified

  4. Teddy chocked him at first and Tushishvili got provoked. Bad behavior but Teddy is not an angel here.

  5. You see the flags and immediately know who is gonna be in the wrong unfortunately

  6. Sorry, what exactly am I seeing here? I noticed the aggressive posturing after the fact, but I feel like I missed the initial thing the Georgian guy did to make the announcer react.

  7. Wow! I wonder what he said to him.
So who will be replacing him for the mixed team finals? Or will Georgia be at a disadvantage?

  8. This makes no sense to me in that the dude made the quarterfinals and then was DQ’d for something so blatantly wrong. It’s similar to my confusion when I watched a match where the opponent of the Japanese fighter chose to just run out of the ring and get his 3rd yellow card (ie. A red) and a match loss instead of just fighting and potentially losing.

  9. Ooohhh! Big man had to take his wobe off to show his weally big muscles too! What a d-bag.

  10. Doing that to a legend like Teddy Riner, absolutely pathetic.

Just a reference for people who are not familiar with him. Teddy Riner has won eleven World Championships gold medals, the first and only judoka (male or female) to do so, and three Olympic gold medals (two individual, one team).

  11. Pardon my ignorance. But someone explain what happened?

I am not familiar with judo at all, so even though I’ve watched it I still don’t understand.

  12. One of the french commentators mentionned that this two have had a beef since their first encounter in Budapest world championship 2017.

I think Teddy doesn’t like the haughty air and dominating look of Tushishvili. As to why Tushishvili doesn’t like Riner I have my own speculations..

It’s still mind boggling the crazy pill the georgian took over this loss. I was very surprised Teddy took it so calmly, my blood was boiling.

  13. This is the Olympics, the world stage of world stages. I don’t care how wronged one might feel from something, this is *not* excusable behavior. If there’s something that comes up, there are proper avenues to challenge them. You don’t suddenly start throwing your attitude around like you’re in an octagon. Not here.

  14. If he can treat a giant ass man like this on public television can you imagine how he treats women behind closed doors. Fucking hell what a loser.

  15. GEO had a disrespectul behaviour and is the faulty guy BUT tbh Teddy gesture right after winning was not a normal behaviour for an athlete of this rank. (And I’m french and I support T.R.)

  16. Ik the Georgia guy is in the wrong here but isn’t Teddy trying to stand over the guy when he won the match a dick move?

  17. This is quite ridiculous. However, not only the respect has fallen in Judo but also all its greatness. There is no ippon or waza-ari anymore. Every fight ends in a three shido golden score.

  18. ELI5: for someone like me who never watch Judo except once every four years, what is considered an Ippon?

  19. If you’re gonna behave like that, then Judo is the wrong sport for you. Respect and humility always come first when entering the tatami.

  20. “Banned…, insane…, disgusting behaviour.”

Honestly, having first reading the comments, I expecting something much more or way worse. Sure it’s wrong, but people are out here acting like the Georgian suckerpunched the other judoka.
