  1. Do they actually state if its people who own their own homes, or owners of housing more generally?

    Because these spikes correlate pretty well with drops in personal ownership of homes and increases of land lord and rental companies ownership of properties, especially in the 2008 crisis and Covid.

    Which would demonstrate a very unhealthy market in which real estate has been turned far more into investment vehicles for unproductive profits rather than as a good.

  2. Equity does not really mean much. I think this curve just reflects a real estate value bubble. I would like to see this curve and plotted below it another curve plotting “owed mortgage” line. Then let’s talk.
