  1. A very interesting map!!

I think I’m seeing two things:
    1. Migration for jobs
    2. Elevated male mortality rate in some locations

But I bet there is a lot of interesting stuff this map is showing.

  2. As a straight guy who was once single in Alabama… uh… I’m really not sure where they were hiding all these women that are allegedly around. Probably retirement homes

  3. Would really like to see the ages too somehow. Something tells me that the reds have a heavily skewed older female population and a more balanced younger population. The blues are probably just an overall more male population overall.

  4. The majority female counties align well with the “black belt” of majority black counties in the south, including along the banks of the Mississippi.

  5. Funny how a few of the counties that skew heavily toward women are adjacent to a county that skews heavily toward men, like they all packed up and moved or something, lol

  6. The intersections of oppression in the South fascinate me. The most POC live there per capita, highest poverty rates, lowest access to education, healthcare and voting, and now I see a higher ratio of women. Incredible.

  7. As someone who has never lived in Alaska, my guess is that living in the state feels so isolating and cold that not many women would want to live there. And men are human radiators, so.
