Not a problem. I’m banned from Pontins anyway on account of my great granddad being Irish.
you suppose to break it first
Well at least there wasn’t some bodily fluid hidden underneath for a change.
My wife used to work at Pontins years before I met her, I think it was the one that’s closed now. She had plenty of horror stories but she finally left in the middle of the night after confronting her boss about a situation where they 1. refused one of her colleagues leave to go and say goodbye to his dying mother and 2. told that same colleague that if he went to her funeral he wouldn’t have a job to come back to.
Most of em are shut now anyway, there’s like 1 or 2 left
I got bitten to shit by bedbugs
looking at your wellies, I can’t believe how tiny your feet are!
I brought home some bed bugs last time I stayed at one. Never again
Used to go to Rave weekenders at the one in Prestatyn. Some of the stuff that went on in those chalets is shocking
Fun fact the biddy stockholm was originally designed as a pontins cruise liner but it wasn’t bleak enough.
Not only are the beds not fit for purpose, apparently farm animals have free reign throughout the various chalets!
I just looked through the Pontins website as I’ve somehow never heard of it before
it just seems so… Tragic
I genuinely didn’t know a holiday website could instill the feeling of despair in someone
I used to live near one and work in a nearby pub. During the summer holidays when pontins was inexplicably full, the pub was sooooo miserable. Everyone staying there looked thoroughly depressed and the amount of people kicking off and getting drunk and lairy in front of their kids was embarrassing. Hated being the only guy on shift, I always had to take the tables where the husbands/fathers were openly leering at the waitresses calling them “sweetheart”… Then getting pissed when a fat bloke with a beard took their order instead.
Tl:Dr. It never attracted the best clientele.
I paid £36 for two one bedroom apartment chalet things for four nights at Pontins in Rhyl. This would have been five or six years ago. £36. My wife and i and kids had one and my Mum & Dad had the other. I’d *like* to complain that it was worn out and crappy, and that the beds were uncomfortable, the TV kept going in and out of reception, the hot water was sporadic at best, and the whole place just felt well worn…..buuuuuut it was £1.80 per person / per night. The kids absolutely loved it, it was a great “jumping off spot” for the beaches of North Wales, and as much as the other guest were some of the roughest people i’ve ever seen, i didn’t see an ounce of trouble, and everyone was really polite and friendly. Even the horrendous “check in” procedure went reasonably smoothly. I would NEVER go again, at any price, but at the time, and for the price, i couldn;t fault it.
I’ve literally come back from Pontins today. I was expecting the dregs but was really surprised 😳 I’m an OCD cleaner and expected the worst but the most I found was some limescale on the shower head in the wet room/bathroom. I even checked the bed/furniture for any signs of stuff that was living rent free and found a spider – that was it!! The food was great with 5/6 options for dinner/dessert each day and brekkie was better standard and had more choice than my recent breakfast at a Crowne Plaza hotel. Overall if you overlook the fact that the average age is 65 it’s a great value place to base your holiday. And it cost me around £25 a day for breakfast and an evening meal all based on all you can eat, and they don’t charge overinflated prices at the bar or onsite either. So despite my initial thoughts I was really pleasantly surprised and would recommend staying there
I once had the misfortune to go to Rhyl for a work site visit. I stayed in a hotel that was directly opposite the Pontins in Prestatyn. I’ve never seen a more depressing place in my life, it looked like stalag luft and there was a local dealer openly selling drugs whilst kids played in the swings next to him. Rhyl wasn’t much better to be fair though.
Pontins was the nuts in the late 80s, but I can see they haven’t decorated since I was last there.
Friday Sat nights, £35, Best deal ever for the amount of food and entertainment. This was maybe 9 years ago, but have been back since.

Why would we need a reminder ?
