Well it is good to proud of something, compared with the shameful racist behaviour of some. I cannot believe that they were allowed to represent their country.
Again last night the players of two teams behaved in appalling way. They should be removed from the tournament. Not Olympics behaviour at all. Such a huge contrast to the other sports. Witness even the Koreas getting along. This is supposed to be the most inclusive Games. Racism is not allowed.
Funnily enough, I’ve seen comments about brits supporting the french against Argentina, and french supporting the brits against them too.
When the countries that love to hate each other (in a funny way nowadays btw) start rooting for the other, you know that something really bad happened.
Argentina missed an opportunity to be silent. What a missed opportunity that was.
Joking is fine,but France did lose the war in the end.

I’m not sure anyone has anything to benefit from the ‘Argentina is the villain’ narrative. We need to firmly call out racism, transphobia, etc. when it happens, and maybe point out how systemic the issue is when government officials ridicule themselves like they did.
When all that is said and done, they shouldn’t be anyone’s enemy. They have amazing sport achievements regardless of how they’ve done here in Paris, and laughing at their misfortune will only trigger an endless cycle of useless banter.
This whole racist chants situation should be an opportunity for everyone to assess how they are doing and support discriminated populations across all cultural backgrounds so that everyone comes out better.
Forget about the atrocities committed by France in the past, slavery and exploitation of many places in the world (difficult to narrow down to a single continent) But never mind, now they are a completely modern and integrated society, no racism, everyone happy with equal possibilities, no burning cars in the streets every other day 😅
