How many people fill their fridge with the tackiest magnets they can find? Ours looks hideous, it’s wonderful.

  1. My mother. She has magnets from every place her, myself and my brother go. My brother travels a lot for his job so I’m surprised she even has any room left

  2. We do this, too. It’s become a tradition to bring a magnet from any visit anywhere. Will need a new fridge soon for the overflow…

  3. I have a filing cabinet in my office that is plastered with magnets that are souvenirs of places I’ve been on trips. Write the date of the trip on the back.

  4. Yes. Our doors are so full we have had to start using the bit of the side we can see. Love them, we get at least one whenever we go anywhere, home or abroad. My favourite is a spinning one we got in Epcot.

  5. That looks just like my parents fridge!

Mine just has the magnets for the child-locks on the cabinet doors and drawers, and a few bits of the kids artwork being held up by them.

  6. My sister in law does – her house is immaculate, she has OCD about stacking tins in the cupboards labels facing outwards and so on, but her fridge looks like an explosion in a tourist shop.

  7. Boiler, dishwasher and spare freezer are covered (fridge is built-in) as well as a separate whiteboard all covered in magnets

  8. Our fridge is integrated, so we can’t put magnets on it.

Soooooo we have a separate magnetic board on the kitchen wall to collect magnets on. Whenever we go anywhere interesting, get a naff fridge magnet. We even got one at the M&M shop in Leicester Square.

My sibling and I also buy them for each other, and again the aim is to get something *striking* rather than necessarily beautiful.

  9. My MIL has a huge double fridge covered in them. Yours are pretty great, I’m definitely going to Longleat and getting a monkey magnet.

  10. My missus has filled both freezer doors with magnets, they’re forever getting knocked off by hungry people.

But she’s calmed down a lot … we used to have two big steel sheets on the wall in the kitchen chock full of them. Most of them Disney (yuk!). It turns out when there’s a choice between magnets or a new kitchen, the kitchen comes out on top.

  11. Thank you! 🥰 you just reminded me of my mum’s fridge! She died 8 years ago this month. I had forgotten about her fridge magnets! 😃

  12. Yes I do this, I love collecting magnets from all the places we’ve visited. It’s a nice way to remember day trips and holidays.

The tackiness just adds to the charm.

  13. Wow- thought it was just me! My sis travels a fair bit and she always knows to be me the most ghastly, tacky fridge magner she can find as a gift.

    Ah the simple things.

  14. Yes we do this but not on the fridge as it is integrated so the microwave cops them.

  15. I do it to my parents fridge instead. I buy them on holiday as presents so they can’t bin them.

  16. Mine is almost the same as that but our magnets are holding photos and drawings on as well so it looks even more chaotic.

  17. We just have magnets that say “Let’s end hate crime” on them. I know I didn’t bring them in this house (not that I’m pro hate crime), and I don’t really know where they came from or why.

  18. I always get a magnet for my fridge when I go somewhere different and my family gets me a magnet as well if they go away same as me.

  19. We found one in Kansas City of a cow wearing an apron and chef’s hat, holding a large fork . The apron says “Steaks On!” (Kansas is famous for beefsteak)

  20. My mums fridge is full of them, she hates them but manners say you don’t throw away a gift.

  21. Along with all the other magnets and other random shit, I have two fridge magnets from Kazakhstan, which is somewhere I’ve never been. It’s what fridges are for

  22. My mum does this, she’s got magnets from when iwas a kid & i’m 44 now.

Always try & get her one from holidays.

  23. Just came here to say I’ll pay good money for a nice Bastogne magnet. Ideally with a tank.

The one my wife bought if utter rubbish.

  24. My grandma has a collection of magnets given to her by my bio dad from all the places he visited (including Afghanistan), and when he passed, I took over the tradition, so now she had one from Japan and a good few from various places in the US

  25. Wait…. when did you take a photo of *my* fridge??

I actually have a system, top of fridge is worldwide, middle is Europe, bottom third is UK.

Freezer is magnets from friends as they all know my love of tacky magnets. Tacker the better!!

  26. Have to get one for every place I go. Should have seen me driving around the forest of Dean trying to find somewhere that sells magnets.

  27. We try to get one every place we visit

I go for postcards and try to get at least one of every place we visit, because we been on many cruises, some countries been quite tricky, but managed to do it, as we only been in some ports like for like a day.

Sometimes I try to buy a keyring from every place
