I’m always happy to see a country that has never medaled in the past win a medal

  1. J. Alfred winning St. Lucia’s first ever gold medal in the women’s 100M was pretty epic to see.

  2. I’m just happy some other countries getting their Medals for the first time like Saint Lucia and Dominica who are both combined of their population would be less than the State of Wyoming.

I’m glad they are getting their recognition.

  3. I’ve read one too many comments calling bronze participation trophies.

If you don’t value bronze you can suck it, because the athletes who worked so hard and sacrificed so much sure as hell do and their countries are proud of them!

  4. Guatemala’s first gold was epic, bc the shooter finished last in the 2021 Olympics.

  5. I don’t keep up with medals at all to be honest. I mostly watch the team sports and wait for the final statistics 😅

  6. My favorite moments so far JAMAICA: Campbell winning the First Men’s Shot Put medal for Jamaica. ST LUCIA: Alfred winning the Women’s 1OOM. The country’s first Gold medal at the Olympics. GREECE: Christou won the Silver Medal in the Men’s 2OOM Backstroke, the country’s first medal in Swimming since the first Modern Olympics. BRAZIL: Silver medal in Gymnastics, the country’s first in the Team event. CANADA: Silver Medal in the Women’s Rugby 7

  7. This is always the best part for me! There’s something so nice about celebrating success for other smaller countries!

  8. What about 2 small nations winning their first medal in the same day and both being gold. Dominica and St Lucia both got that today.

  9. It makes me happy but also sad at the same time that I will probably never fulfill my dream of giving my country a medal :/

  10. To me that’s what watching the Olympics is all about. I’ll always cheer when we win an event but a small country or underdog getting their moment is wonderful too.

  11. Also the fact Russia was banned from participating actually gave more chances for underdogs to finally make to metal Top3 in their disciplines.

  12. I like it when people are absolutly overwhelmed after winning a medal. Like the judoka from italy.
