  1. There’s no way the Iranians can’t respond tbh. They’ve been humiliated and one of their allies has been killed in their capital a day after meeting wi the their leaders. If they don’t do shit they lose all credibility amongst the groups they’ve been cultivating ties with. On top of that, this has now become a sovereignty issue threatening the regime, because it shows they can’t even protect their close friends in their home turf, so what chance do their middle ranking leaders have

  2. It’s funny how the Iranian people just elected a moderate progressiva (for Iranian standards) president, but the Supreme Leader insists on a bellicose approach to the world. I’d love if after Khamenei croaked someone like Hassan Rouhani rised as Supreme Leader, but with the way is set up, it’s a pipe dream to think so. As the citizens of Iran liberalize their views, the government just hardens their fundamentalism. Sadly.
