In the Background could be the Lübecker Dom (seen from the backside), the tower in the middle is likely St. Petri zu Lübeck, The gate could be a highly stylized Burgtor and the fountain is the Marktbrunnen, that was demolished in 1934. The building on the left – maybe the old Rathaus?
Are you sure it’s Germany? What about Basel, Switzerland?

My first reaction was Speyer or Worms because of the massive cathedral and the gate tower. They also have a fountain, but look different in details and the towered house doesn’t ring a bell.
