Hello, I submitted my tax return for years 2020, 21,22, 23 and today I received this payment. Is this for all years together on only for the year 2020 since it’s saying veranl.20 Thank you

Hard to tell, you should get the official letter in the next few days.
Look on your tax return. But probably just one year. They usually don’t do multiple tax returns in one go.
Wait for the letter with the tax return statement. It should come any day now. In case you submitted via Elster, it may already be there electronically. Usually it’s for one year, but offsets are also possible. In case they’ve offset one year against another, they are going to state that in the tax returns of the years in question.

they send it 4 years later? losing lots of money because of inflation..
Hey, I’m sorry I cannot answer your question but I have one of my own. I submitted my return for 2023 two months ago and haven’t heard anything from them yet. Did yours take more than 2 months too?
It even says it on the reference line:
erstatt = Erstattung = reimbursement, restitution
0xxxx = your tax ID
EST = Einkommenssteuer = income tax
.20 = 2020 __ You’ll be receiving a letter within the next few days.
I guess it is for 2020. Mail with the calculation often arrives after the payment.
