  1. Amazing. Fuck ~~half the world~~ all the bigots for treating this woman so poorly. I hope she wins it all.

    Edit: removed exaggeration

  2. I SCREAMED! I wanna see this woman take gold! She has BUSTED ASS for this against all odds

  3. As an algerian, I’m so happy that despite all the vicious manufactured controversy to destroy her career, she managed to prevail to the final. This captures so well the history of her country so well that it’s almost poetic. 1 2 3 VIVA L’ALGÉRIE🇩🇿🇩🇿

  4. People are going to lose their minds if she wins it all. I hope she’ll be okay. Fortunately her family and country seem to be fully in her corner (ha, boxing.)

  5. I’ve never cheered for any particular woman in boxing before, but I sure as heck am cheering for Imane Khelif! The bullying she has withstood is absolutely insane. She is a hero in my book.

  6. 🔥🔥 I hope she wins, that was truly disgusting what they did to her. People can be cruel.

  7. Isn’t Lin Yu-ting in the same boat? How come 99% of press coverage is about this boxer?

  8. She better come home with a medal around her neck, drinking the tears of twitter and facebook users.

  9. My family and I listened to the fight live on the radio while having dinner. As soon as they announced she was the winner, we all cheered and clapped. This never happened before and it felt like such a bonding moment between us. To us Algerian women, Imane is the embodiment of hope against misogyny. Even my sexist father, who is also in the opinion that women shouldn’t box, openly cheered her on and praised her abilities. It was a first and it moved me.

She is an icon and inspiration to us all. I pray that she gets Gold.

  10. Meanwhile, Kellie Harrington, who defeated her in the last Olympics, is about to win gold again.

  11. This is one instance that I’m not rooting for my own country to win gold. I hope she wins and her haters choke on it. ( figuratively not literally) because you know, Reddit.

  12. regardless of how poorly she’s been treated i’m so so happy she was able to come out on top of it all, she could’ve been taken out of it (understandably so, the sheer amount of speculation on her very being was.. shameful to say the least) but she managed to get to the final!!! i will be rooting for her no matter what happens

  13. I’m so confused. Why not literally get her chromosomes checked and shut up the other half of the controversy.

The solution is so simple and literally physical truth – hard to see how this could have devolved into scandal.

  14. Headline: Female boxer advances in Olympics due to her talents….more at 11

Normal people: Oh that’s nice 😊

    Right-Wing LOSERS: 😡😡😡

  15. It is great to see that she is now probably amongst the fav, non homecountry, Olympic athletes by hundreds of millions all around the globe.
She grew up in a poor rural part of agriculture Algeria, her father disapproved of her pursuing an athletic career, she sold bread on the streets to be able to afford training.
As for the idiotic chromosome debate, in a ton of sports you see very athletic, tough muscular women. I’m sure if they gendertested everyone of them in a lab they’d find unusual amounts of thestosterone too, it doesn’t mean jack.
Just watch some photos of her in normal clothes, she’s 178cm and competes at 60kg…she looks like a frigging model – and she is a darn skilled boxer.

  16. Hang on she’s 66 kilograms???

Frankly I’m impressed. I’m like 60 kg and nowhere near that strong

  17. I hope she goes all the way. I hope she gets the gold. And I hope all the monsters who slandered her are left seething.

  18. Woo 💙 she’s made it this far thanks to her hard work and resilience, cheering for her!

  19. This situation is simple. The IOC definition for a woman has been fluid for a while and with the current iteration Imane qualifies.

There will be different definitions in the future. My guess is a mixture of chromosomes and max testosterone level.

This woman is winning by the rules and we should let her enjoy her victory.

  20. It’s hilarious that out of all countries that would send a trans athlete people really think Algerian would be the one? LOL
