Could the helicopter even still fly without its tail rotor? Impressive strike indeed
Full video to come out today as this has apparently been an unauthorized leak of the footage according to Sternenko.
$18,000,000 and 11,000kg vs $1500 and 2kg. The drone pilot hit the fkn jackpot, I can’t imagine how ecstatic they would feel.
Now we just need space interceptions and we’ll have seen drones hit literally everything.
It was about to happen. Just a question of time.
Wow
Is this the first confirmed an A2A helicopter kill by drone?
Jesus this is next level. Now helicopters have A LOT more to worry about.
Edit: At this point why not go for the main rotor though? Would the down wash affect the drone that much?
Soon babayaga drones with rockets…
Really need to get some aftermath reports from this. Did the drone detonate successfully or did the rotor slice it up before it was triggered? If it did detonate what was the damage? Hopefully someone on Telegram will talk.
Is that enough to destroy the rear blade? What are the odds that charge alone would have thrown away right after it hit the rotar
Can helicopters regrow their tails like some lizards?
Absolutely wild, I thought I was scrolling past a retro gaming post (Soviet Strike). It kind of looks like one of the old school helicopter games. Insane and amazing this is real life.
So does the drone operator get to put a helicopter tally on his drone controller? Can a drone operator become an Ace if the heli is confirmed down?
YESSSSS! i was thinking it would just be blown away by the down wash! but what about the aftermath??? Do tell us please!!!
I thought it was a ps1 graphics for a sec
not sure if intended, but targeting the tail rotor here actually has the highest chance of success. Helicopter was low enough to potentially land without killing the pilots when only the motor was disabled (with an intact rotor). Probably one day we will see a swarm of drones waiting in the flightpath and then suddenly raise from the ground, so they hit the helicopter upfront without leaving the pilots any chance to avoid.
Hang on. Is this the SECOND helicopter to have been hit by an FPV?
Holy moly, in Kursk Oblast of all places? No pre sighted flight paths most likely… Crazy!
too bad this particular drone doesn’t have pitot tube. I wonder what the speed was.
