Why Dani Olmo will be a great signing.

  1. So, I looked at some heat maps and some Bayern matches from 2019/2020 season and I realized that Dani Olmo might turn out to be a great signing for us for many different reasons. So in the first four pictures you would see the heat maps of Dani Olmo for the entire season and specifically of his three matches against Germany, France and England in the EUROs. You can clearly see he is not a PURE WINGER. And he hovers just outside the penalty box and a lot of the times occupies the half spaces between full backs and center backs. So why does this matter? Well. Now you can see the heatmaps of Coman, Gnabry and Davies from the 19/20 season at Bayern Munich. First thing you will notice is that the wingers invert and sometimes they occupy the half spaces, that is how Coman scored the winner in the CL finale. But most importantly look at Davies’ heat map at the end. He was the one providing a lot of the width for Bayern on the left side. Flick might want to do the same with Olmo. Balde might be the one providing a lot of the width with Olmo occupying the half spaces. And we have seen how lethal he can be, he scored a lot of great goals this season maneuvering his way through the defenders and scoring or assisting like he did vs. Brasil in a friendly or vs. Bayern in the SuperCup finale. This is the tactical reason why I think Flick might have wanted him. Now, let us come to the other reason.
Gundogan might leave next season, Gavi is injured, FDJ and Pedri are injury prone. So even though we have many midfielders, it really isn’t that simple and I think Olmo is a great addition as he can play as inverted winger in a Flick system and play as pure NO.10 as well.
    What are your thoughts?

  2. For some reason, the pics and text wasn’t uploading simultaneously. So I uploaded the text in the comments..

  3. Olmo is only bad because of his injury record but those that say we don’t need midfielders are delusional fdj and pedri stans that still think they’re reliable players.

  4. The question was never about his talent, it was about his physicality… we have time and again suffered due to injuries.. an attacking midfielder for 65 million while we have no left winger or a pivot..

  5. I know he is a good signing but he has to stay fit, I really like his signing because he gives me the confident that we have someone in the midfield that can create special moment for us out of nowhere which we are still expecting from fdj and pedri
