  1. Obligatory Thai person’s comment here. The dissolved party is not even threatening the monarchy. They just proposed something in the parliament to revise the law (Article 112) which has been used by the political establishment and the military as a political tool to get rid of their opponents for the past two decades. The last king (Rama IX) literally said that people should be able to criticize him. But apparently the “royalists” don’t even listen to the actual king. They just are like “no we need to keep the royal family in god status so it’s easier for us to stay in power.”

  2. Is this something the Thai monarchy is doing, or is this something the military and other parties are doing using the monarchy as a pretext? Or some combo of the two?

  3. So, what exactly is Thailand now? A constitutional monarchy, an absolute monarchy, a military dictatorship?

  4. Shit like this is why you could never convince me even Constitutional Monarchy is preferable to having a civilian leader and I will die on this hill.
