  1. Such a touching moment. One common thread in most great athletes is the great support behind them.

  2. She said something along the lines of ‘at least I’m still alive’ and that was heartbreaking. I take it she’s had serious mental health struggles?

But that was a beautiful father-daughter moment.

We are all proud of you – just like he said 🫶🏽

  3. She made it to the Olympics. That’s a huge feat in itself. How many try and try to make it and never do.

  4. Because these are **the** best athletes in the world, it’s so easy to forget that so many of them are basically still kids.

  5. It’s always hard not winning, but trying and putting the effort in to get to the Olympics is Amazing, being among the top 20 out of 8.1BILLION people is a life achievement . Most people are happy to watch the Olympics, Some get to attend as spectators and shes worked hard enough to participate. I hope she’s OK and realises how proud everyone is.

  6. A+++++ parenting. She did get a bronze in synchronized diving, so she has plenty to be super proud about! (Not to mention just getting to the Olympics!!)

  7. The thrill of victory, and the agony of defeat…

Hold your head high, and be proud of your nation. You are forever an Olympian!!!

  8. She’s got a Bronze Medal. Plus many gold medal in World and European championships. Nothing to complain about it. She’s awesome.

  9. Medal or not, Spendolini is a fucking awesome name. Right up there with Oblique on the track and Dong in the pool (how his parents didn’t give him Ding as a first name is beyond me).

Andrew did great anyway, awesome to see the Brit girls both medal earlier in the week.

  10. Oh bless her! I hate that kind of hiccupy crying. It’s the worst. Sweet dad helping her through it

  11. I’ve never seen someone hyperventilate cry like I do before…

Perfectionists are hard on ourselves and it’s the worst to not perform exactly to our standards.

I hope she will be proud of herself if not today but in the future

  12. I try to emphasize to my daughter that hard work and effort are the most important things. Sometimes that will lead to victory and sometimes it will not but if she can look at herself and say she didn’t cut corners, that she put in the work and made the effort, THAT is success.

  13. Dad does a great job here. He doesn’t try to shut down her emotions or make her immediately look on the bright side. He provides her comfort and also shows that she is supported regardless of what the outcome was. That’s so heartwarming—love it ❤️
