Large explosions 🔥 are currently taking place at Lipetsk Airbase in Russia located 282km from Ukraine 🇺🇦 The air bases has Su-34s, MiG-29s, Su-25s, and at times 2x Su-57s
I expect the base was already chaotic, with tactical air transferring into the base and gearing up as fast as possible to make bombing runs at Ukraine’s raid/recon in force/ invasion/ jolly romp through the summer fields (pick one), giving me hope that proper attention wasn’t paid to ‘defensive posture’.
Check my post on this, I think lots of aircraft were still there.
Russians are having a hell of a week. Let them enjoy the rest of it.

Good lord I hope for more SU-57 losses.
Ukraine is creating so many crises for Russia, that it’s becoming a permanent dilemma of which to respond to. You have the complete shitshow of Kursk, and while that’s happening, there’s a major attack on a port in Crimea, and now this. i have a dollar that says this will continue in very unexpected directions. Ukraine needed this. This is a huge momentum change and Syrsky is shutting some people up.
Edit: I bet the entire theater-wide air defense network is degraded because they’re terrified of friendly fire and shooting down their own planes, so more Ukrainian long range drones are getting through.
Dang, the Find Out stage is really coming in hard on them Ruskies this week.

This is absolutely insane to think about, how much planning and behind the scenes work was done. Ukraine not only penetrated and rapidly swarmed into Russia at a rate the Russians can’t counter, but they’ve set up ambush teams everywhere crushing every counter response sent in. Now this? They’re taking maximum advantage of their windows of opportunity. We could be witnessing the start of the end of the war.

I anticipated a counteroffensive; I did NOT anticipate the counteroffensive would look like this. This is surpassing my dreams of seeing the Kerch bridge fall (I mean that would still be nice to see, just this is better.)

The NASA FIRMS maps showed a little bit of something near the air base, but the real excitement seems to be on the south west side of the city.
It seems to be an industrial area. It kind of looks like metal working area from the satellite view, but maybe more of a refinery of some sorts.
