  1. Huge congrats to Chang Yuan. First female boxing champ for China, what an achievement!!!!

  2. From what I understand, boxing isn’t super well respected in China. The Government doesn’t like the idea that martial arts which aren’t traditional Chinese martial arts might have some legitimate value to them. Her making it to this point might be in spite of the Chinese government trying to stop her rather than them actively encouraging her and training her.

  3. In every single post about China. You will find someone saying something blatantly untrue, racist or ignorant.

  4. I had no idea who she was before this Olympics but I watched some of her fights. This girl has crazy fast hands and reflexes, often times putting her hands down even in the pocket. Her bout against #1 ranked Petrova was impressive as hell too.

  5. Chinese female boxing team hired a Cuban coach, and result speak for itself with so many medals already locked in for thw team, historical achievement

  6. I’m sure the title was appropriately worded but it made me laugh that it implies you can just “claim” a gold medal. I’d like to claim one for myself too, just for funsies.

  7. Wow, the amount of racism and hatred toward this hard-working Chinese athlete! Remember the purpose of this whole Olympics is to stop wars and unite people all over the world together! Can’t you just be happy for each other and appreciate how fantastic human athleticism is?
