Another Russian Helicopter ( Mi-8MTV-series or Mi-8AMTSh. ) was hit by a Ukrainian AA HE-FRAG FPV . Unclear if this was shot down or merely damaged- but the original post claimed that it “stopped working in the area”.

  1. Doesn’t look like a hit. Might be difficult for drones to come close enough to make a damage on flying copter because of turbulence around it.

  2. It’s possible it caused damage if it was remote detonated, but the last frame looks like the drone was blown away by the rotor wash

  3. It self-tracks and auto-detonates. It detonated, just a matter of how much of the fair rotor was hit. Doesn’t take much.

  4. Tail rotors are fragile and if it was indeed a frag munition as stated it should have at least crippled it.

  5. We have seen videos in the past, that the drones couldn’t able to race with the helis, how’s that or the speed of drones were increased?

  6. Next time the operator should try striking the turboshaft directly, getting under the rotors

  7. Russian aviation has been taking a beating over the last week. The head of the air force should probably avoid open windows for a while.

  8. Wouldn’t it be smart to attack the rotor from the top? Drone gets sucked in and blows off a blade.

  9. Looks like the drone was being pushed away by the down wash of the rotor at the last second.

New lesson learned: try for the top down attack.

  10. If they’re going to target choppers, they need remote detonation/frag. Or they need to target the main rotor/blades with a contact trigger and HE.

As soon as you get below one of these it’s going to be impossible to hit due to the downwash.

The only other option I see is level flight head on directly into the cockpit so they crash at a fast speed before the downwash is able to blow the drone out of the way.

  11. Press X to doubt. Looks exactly like all the other videos where the drones get deflected by EW

  12. At the very least it damaged the tail rotor and had to land. Ukrainians continue to be a pain in the ass for the Russians and that’s the important part.
