Never even been to the semifinals before and now it’s a gold medal. The commentators on Rai were legit crying, it means so much to everyone.
So, with this Gold there are three people from the same Italian town who won Gold medals. 😂

In all of the tournament they won all sets, but one. Total dominance!
It’s easy to say we have the strongest player in the world, but the whole team was INCREDIBLE this whole tournament: Fahr, Orro, Danesi,Sylla, every single girl did an outstanding job!
Only 1 set lost in the tournament, they were DOMINANT
Turkey faced them in both group stage and semi finals, unlucko
They were (annoyingly) too good. Haha.

Team Italy made up of actual Roman goddesses straight off of Mount Olympus, led by Paola Egonu, the incarnation of Victoria, the winged goddess of victory.
And the scary part was, Italy was still dominating even when Egonu took a break on the bench, because their squad is that talented and skilled.
It was never close. Italy just played next next level, with the US, and indeed, every other team they’ve faced in Paris playing several levels below. Volleyball played at a level mere mortals can only stare up at in wonder.
Deserved. Their numbers are outstanding in the gold medal match ( just like how the US beat Brazil in Tokyo)

Italy was absolutely unstoppable. The USA team couldn’t block to save their lives, but congrats to both teams for podium finishes!
Man, I don’t follow volleyball a ton but had to root for my US girls…Italy is a good team! Those girls in the front are machines.

Same technical coordinator that now closes the circle and finally gets that awaited and deserved gold. Velasco made italian volleyball history once again.

When the former coach Mazzan*i finally left in October 2023, we didn’t even know if we would be able to qualify for the Olympics.
Then Mr Julio Velasco came to our aid at the beginning of 2024, we qualified, we won the VNL and we won the Gold Medal at the Olympics!
As an American I was hoping for a different outcome, but the Italians knocked butt today and were obviously the better team. Congrats to them for their gold medal.
Complete dominance. Couldn’t even be mad watching that final, was clear from the first serve who the better team was.
Egoni and De Gennero deserves this.
