  1. If only Republicans had staged a similar intervention to ensure a healthy, sane and patriotic party.

  2. “Admits” is a strange framing there.

Didn’t know receiving advice was an accusation.

  3. This is what a sane party does right? They try to get the best possible candidate into office for the people. Biden was obviously going through things, and we have seen how the stress of being President takes a toll on your life (look at all Presidents from when they entered to when they left). I’m just glad he listened.

  4. That’s just another way of saying, “The party made their concerns clear, and those concerns echoed the concerns of voter. And I listened.” Something more career politicians could stand to do.

  5. I’m ok with that. It was the right thing to do, and I appreciate Pelosi and others doing this tough task.

  6. I haven’t read the article yet, but from the headline this feels like a “no shit.” Isn’t it?

  7. And this is my and a lot of people’s issue: the old guard needs to go. Biden says he had pressure from Pelosi, yet Pelosi last week on CBS Sunday Morning said she never spoke to Biden. So who’s lying? The guy who’s leaving office? Or the Congresswoman seeking a 20th congressional term?

  8. However it happened, it was clearly the correct thing for Biden to do – the election completely flipped, and he secured a legacy as the guy that got trump out of office and then stepped away from the presidency in the national interest. Way better look than “guy who insisted on staying in and then lost to trump”. And respect where it’s due, that was a hard decision to make.

  9. Seymour Hirsch reported that they were threatening to oust him with the 25th amendment. He was a world renowned award winning journalist until he told the truth but the Nord Stream pipeline, which the media and government really didn’t like.

  10. It’s good that he did, don’t spend your last days behind the desk. Go be with your family and friends.

  11. We need more party’s that range the entire political spectrum. Then implement rank choice voting. This is how our democracy grows

  12. Yep I and many people put pressure on him and he did the right thing. Thank you Mr President you did something most people would not do and that’s put your country first above yourself!

  13. That is not a secret at all is it?

    Lmao. No shit.

More and more people told him to step down.

He did what a great man does.

Fitting end for his legacy. Putting his country first.

  14. To tell you the truth, Biden looks like the cat that ate the canary now that he’s outgoing. No strenuous campaign stuff. Can concentrate on judicial reform and election integrity while Harris/Waltz pick up the mantle. The decision to step aside, however it was arrived at, looks like an absolutely genius move

  15. Nancy Pelosi continues to demonstrate historic political effectiveness. She’s under appreciated for her ability to get bills passed and to keep the government – and our country – moving forward. She’s the anti-Gym Jordan.

  16. Thank gawd. I will always admire Biden now. I hated when he said he would feel ok as long as he gave it his best shot. It would have been Hilary 2.0 defeat if he was the nominee.

I’m not the biggest Harris fan. But she is definitely better than whatever 80 year old candidate we got.

  17. What’s a little wild is that Biden may never have won the nomination in 2020 if the Dems didn’t coordinate a withdrawal of his lane so that he could beat Bernie Sanders. Including the withdrawal of Kamala and Pete.

  18. I’m glad he listened. His actions were a profile in courage and is one of the great inflection points in the survival of American democracy and American political history. It’s hard to admit that your powers and abilities are weakening. We just need to go back to RBGs intansigence on this point to understand how negative one persons lack of self awareness can be on the country.

  19. WE STAND WITH YOU JOE now ENERGIZED and UNIFIED because of you. LETS SWEEP IT BLUE 🌊🌊🌊

  20. Biden should’ve realized that he would be too old to run for a second term long ago. I have to say it was a genius move to announce that he was stepping aside right after the RNC and steal the headlines from Sir Poopypants .

  21. Biden handled it really, really well. I have a lot of respect for how he went out, and he did what he needed to for the good of the party and the nation.

Respect and thank you for a reasonably good 4 years, Joe.

  22. Neither of these men should have been the nominee but was elected, so I guess he should have been. One party finally acknowledged this, albeit their hand was forced. Keep him and lose or change and have a shot. Now it seems the Republicans are in the same situation, but it’s too late to change course. When it’s all said and done, the race won’t even be close.
