Can anyone point me to an actual record of this like a new article or something like that? I’m a bit of an aviation geek so I’d love to know a bit more and catastrophic incidents of 747s are usually well documented but I’m not able to really learn anything about this on google.
Much of the story about Kuwaitis shooting down a 747 smells of bullshit.
AI says “Kuwait has never shot down a Boeing 747. The incidents involving Kuwait and Iraqi aircraft, particularly during the Gulf War, did not involve any Boeing 747s. The February 2, 1991, incident involved a Mirage F1 fighter jet, not a commercial airliner. There are no records or credible reports of Kuwait shooting down a 747 at any time.”
Those Kuwaiti are squatting at the start of the video because of the weight of their giant testicles.
2003 DHL?
Lots of ‘hey.. put your face on record’ and camera angles
Just did a research with the help of google translate
**There was no Shootdown**
Those guys actually tried to shoot the plane with two Strela MANPADS, only one missile hit the engine and the plane still managed to make a successful emergency landing in Basra region in Iraq (claiming 60 dead Iraqi officers and numerous injuries)
Here is short documentary about this incident [arabic no subtitle]
Does the camera guy have fucking Parkinson’s or what
You leave Tears For Fears out of this
Damn, that’s like a scene out of an anime dog fight
It looks like Strela-2 or Strela-3. Kuwait had 36 Ayn-al-Sakr MANPADs supplied to it by Egypt in 1990, Ayn-al-Sakr is a Egyptian reverse engineered Strela-2. They also had 500 Strela-3 they bought from Russia in 1985 (they also got 200 Stingers MANPADs from the US and 250 Starburst MANPADs from the UK in 1990).
While the missile fits what Kuwait had, I can’t find anything that says a 747 was shot at/down with a MANPAD in 1990-91.
Edit: found the same video on YouTube, posted 2 years ago. This guy seems to know who the people are in the video
ابوشماغ احمر حامد مطني الشمري واللي لابس غترة بيضاء جابر العصيمي بقيادة البطل عذبي الفهد
Abu Shemagh red Hamed Matni Al Shamri and the one wearing the white ghutra Jaber Al Asimi led by the champion Adhbi Al Fahd.
>The resistance monitored the movement of the mangy dog from your group, Aziz Noman Al-Khafaji, and unfortunately he escaped because the plane completed its journey with one engine, but where did he go from Allah, Aziz Al-Khafaji, he lost in American prisons 😁 Welcome to browse the channel, there are beautiful videos, like this Iraqi colonel who laid eggs from fear when the resistance kidnapped him
They seem to know about this event, it’s not new to them and the people involved are know. It a bit of a mystery. Maybe it’s not on a list because the plane wasn’t shot down but only damaged.
I’m sorry, but having that song in the background had me giggling.
Why does this look like a fake video, especially the goofy ass ending with the guys walking away.

There is no such incident on record from 1990-91.
