  1. Yeah the venues were incredible, really was the stand out feature of the games in Paris.

  2. It’s going to be incredibly hard to ever again reach the spectacularity of these venues. I hope that Paris will inspire future hosts to think a bit more outside the box.

  3. It never made sense to me why it took a hundred years for Paris to get the games again. It should be there every 20-25

  4. Yes our country šŸ‡«šŸ‡· is so beautiful, not just Paris.

There is always something to see, visit, eat, drink ā€¦ šŸ˜ƒ

  5. Iā€™ve lived about half a lifetime and this has easily been my favorite Olympics I can remember. Itā€™s these venues that stick out so much.

  6. Absolutely stunning landmarks, I feel that only Roma could actually match something like this.

  7. Surfing also deserves a shout out, not mainland France but Tahiti is gorgeous.

  8. Come to think of it, it’s a bit sad that majestic cities such as Rio, Beijing, London and Tokyo did not use the games to display their cities a bit more. It would have been insane to see something inside the Forbidden city, or with the Great Wall in the background or on Tiananmen Square, an opening ceremony on the Thames ending at the London Bridge, something inside the Tower of London walls or the Globe Theater, or hell, one of these awesome British castles, like horseriding in Balmoral or smth…and in Tokyo, the Imperial Palace, Ueno Park…

But really proud of my city and my country for showcasing itself the way it did.

  9. This Olympics just made me miss Paris so much. The way these venues were used, so dreamy. We were just there spring last year, and then spring this year at the height of the preparations. Seeing things unfold on screen was justā€¦ breathtaking. I got des frissons several times. Canā€™t wait to go back next year. France, you did really well.

  10. Unfortunately I missed the Olympics due to work (ffs) but I might be in Paris at the end of September.
Any idea if some of the venues or Olympic sites like for example the Olympic rings on the Eiffel Tower will still be there?

  11. That shot of Remco at the end of the menā€™s road race is the shot of the games for me. not quite candid, but he framed it up so well

  12. The fencing / martial arts venue was just incredible. I found myself watching those events just to soak it in, not that I even know (or care) that much about the sports themselves.

  13. These are hard to beat. Maybe a nyc oly and theyā€™d have to shut down Manhattan and Brooklyn to compare.

  14. Paris was flexing and I loved it.

Makes me wish retroactively that London used some of its more historical or iconic sites as temporary venues – climbing up the side of Big Ben, build a velodrome in Shakespeares Globe, volleyball in the Tate and ping-pong in the House of Commons or something šŸ˜‚
At the very least we could have used Buckingham Palace for a few events – its grounds are enormous.

  15. Now I regret skipping the equestrian. Not really my thing, but those views are undeniable.

  16. I loved every minute of the show Paris put on, from the opening ceremonies through the games. Stunning and so thoughtful to maximize the beauty of the city and broader region as one of the ā€œcharactersā€ in this games!

  17. I think itā€™s fair to say Paris used all of its best locations well as Olympic venues. Also seemed like a smart thing to do instead of building an entire new permanent purpose built venue for every event. I visited Athens on vacation a few years ago and it looks like a lot of the venues they built in 2004 werenā€™t in good shape. Eiffel Tower stadium was probably the most photogenic location, having the equestrian events at Versailles was a genius idea, and the fencing venue was just stunning to see staged on TV.

  18. In my opinion only Rome could go near this Olympics. But I’m also sure we would screw everything up

  19. My wife and I were trying to think what other cities could have venues as incredible as Paris and the only ones we could come up with would be Rome, Washington DC, Venice, and possibly NYC.

  20. It is extremely difficult for any city to match Paris. Itā€™s an unbelievably beautiful city, but letā€™s not try to match, but celebrate what every host city brings to the world.

Congrats Paris for a wonderful games. Thank you.

  21. It must have been so extra special to athletes that participated in the both the Tokyo games with all the restrictions and Paris to experience the beauty and magic of these games.
