I wish track and field was earlier on in the Olympics just to shut people up.
China and USA are incredible. They are in a league of their own. Next olympics though I expect it to be more one-sided in favor of USA with the home cooking advantage.
Kinda hilarious that its shown like the 100m because just like for the 100m in the olympics, the medal tally was decided by mere inches.

I always find it odd that these sorts of rankings are done off of gold medals. I’d think it would be better to rank off of total medals.
That said, I’d almost rather we stopped the whole country comparison like this.

Honest question, what do people generally think is a better “ranking”. Total medals, or gold medals? Personally I think the two stats tell totally different stories, and depends what the “goal” of the rankings are. If it’s to tell which country is say the most athletically gifted or something along those lines, it seems like total medals would make more sense.

It’s amazing how dominant Japan is in wrestling, had no idea. That late surge to 3rd place is almost entirely carried by one sport haha
