This is what the country’s first Olympic GOLD means to them.
They got a second public holiday in a week as well for this.
I hope the time comes when there is more parity in medal distribution.
Less USA/China/(Used to be Russia) and more Anyone might win.
30,000 people in a country of only 2 million is a big welcome.
This is really cool to see. Recently Biniam Girmay (from Eritrea) won the green jersey in the Tour de France and got a similarly huge homecoming welcome.
What is a “Hotel On Wheels?”
Lovely moment to capture. They also had an absolutely brilliant 4×100 as well, those silvers deserve to be celebrated as well!
Looks like it was also used as an opportunity to showcase/promote loads of other athletes, and just sport in general.
Not just a lovely celebration but a super smart call at a policy level (especially in a country like Botswana that has such a large youth population).
I dig the music
Wow some western countries could learn a little from this. What a show of joy and celebration!
