  1. Flag football. Who the fuck is playing flag football outside on intramural clubs at US colleges?!?

  2. Cricket will be dominated by India, Australia, Pakistan and England. While West Indies are really strong, I am not sure once they get divided into different carribean countries how strong they will be.

Squash is very interesting because India does well in the Asian Games with Pakistan also having a history of squash players.

  3. arent these just proposition at this point? i have no idea if they actually can organise the cricket competition.

from these i dont really like flag football honestly. internationally its pretty unknown.

    really exited to see lacrosse.

  4. I bet Australia will want to keep the Cricket in 2032, and probably add the Aussie Rules footy and Rugby League.

  5. The US has to at least medal in baseball, softball, and flag football. I’m curious to see what the competition will be like for flag football.

  6. Lacrosse is fun to watch but not sure how many countries actually have a national team outside of North America.

  7. Would NFL players be allowed to participate in flag football? Quarterbacks seem to be key to success.

  8. Obviously baseball softball and flag football ~ should be favorable to the U.S., but do any other countries have much lacrosse either? Feels like it could be an easy lock too

  9. Very much business driven: the CIO admit that the objective with cricket is to sell TV right on the huuuge Indian market (and some others places of the commonwealth not already enough covered). They eyed Olympics in Bombay too for 2036.

Baseball + softball -which are at 98% the same sport for the rest of the world-, and la Crosse are pure American sports, barely practiced at decent level outside maybe Japan and Canada.

Flag football could be interesting, something that is played as a game and training among Rugbymen. Squash is a logic add.

But man, I really hope that they not getting ride of the Boxe, the noble art, for this.

  10. It’s about time squash was added. Should have come in years ago instead of break dancing and the like

  11. US is really stacking the field for their medals with Baseball, Softball AND Flag Football. C’mon now…

  12. Uh, it’s only five sports – baseball and softball are the same sport, just gender specific.

  13. Flag football will be utter shite, barely anyone else plays any form of the sport to decent level, same for Lacrosse. On par with breaking.

Squash and cricket should be decent

  14. LA was more or less ordered to include cricket after the IOC saw the rating for the Tokyo javelin final.

  15. The only one I think worthy to be included is squash TBH. The others are too biased towards particular countries. Not saying they’re poor sports, just not worldwide enough.

I will claim ignorance about lacrosse, no idea how popular it is worldwide.

Or is the IOC simply trying to attract more big money sports now to increase takings?

  16. Cricket in LA28 is going to be more of a test event with just 6 teams in the two medal events.

Good thing is that all the national boards are committed to sending full strength teams, so it should be a core sport in 2036. Hopefully it can expand to 12 teams per event as early as 2032. Australia has no shortage of cricket venues.
