  1. If a section of road closed due to an emergency, you would follow that symbol to rejoin the road the other side of the closed section. I think.

  2. It looks similar to an emergency diversion route sign, but I’ve never seen a star before. Normally a triangle, diamond, square or circle.

  7. As others have said, it’s part of a diversion route.

    To be more specific, it’s one of sufficient size or longevity that “follow the star” is preferable to putting out a ton of signs.

    And/or it overlaps diversion route for another closure, meaning traffic needs to know which directions to follow.
