The Ukrainian army’s breakthrough deep into the Kursk region continues and is accompanied by mass surrender of Russian soldiers. A new video has been published online, showing captured Russians being loaded into a military Ural truck . The video was published by the Telegram channel ” Ukraine 365 “. Ukrainian military admit that they have unexpectedly encountered a problem related to the huge number of prisoners. Now they all need to be loaded and delivered to Ukrainian camps for subsequent exchange. However, there are so many prisoners that logistics are working at the limit. No one expected that there would be so many Russian prisoners. According to various estimates, they have already managed to capture about 1,000 Russian soldiers , including many conscripts who have no experience in combat and surrender almost immediately.

Russian human rights activist Vladimir Osechkin reports that the scale of surrender of Russian soldiers in the Kursk region is off the charts, everything is documented, including video recording.

“This is an unprecedented disgrace in the history of Putin’s Russia ,” they write on social networks.

I Want to Live, a project run by Ukraine’s Defence Intelligence, has released a video of Russian prisoners of war who say they are from the Chechen city of Grozny. According to the project, they were captured in Russia’s Kursk Oblast.

“Raid groups captured these Kadyrovites deep in the rear, far from the border. They say that they tried to flee to avoid being captured, as Ramzan Kadyrov once claimed that members of the Akhmat unit never surrender.

Well, usually they don’t because they hide in the rear, but the situation in Kursk Oblast has unfolded rapidly, and these Akhmat members did not even try to resist”, it is said in video. In the video, several of the captives state that they are from Grozny.

  1. Look at how young they are. I was an interrogator in Viet Nam. Most of the prisoners I dealt with were 17, 18, 19 years old and had been forced into the VC or NVA. Not much has changed.

  2. It is simply unrealistic to secure a 1,944-kilometer-long border with enough experienced personnel, especially if no conscripts are to be used. To repel an attack by 1,000 well-trained soldiers, 300 defenders would be needed at best. If these were distributed over every kilometer of the border, over 500,000 defenders would be needed. The attackers are experienced soldiers, while the border is mostly made up of inexperienced conscripts with low morale. Those who demand that Russia should simply defend the border better do not consider how difficult this is to achieve when the experienced soldiers are needed on the front line and not on the border.

I also think that this is a clever tactic by Ukraine. It is particularly interesting that they have taken conscripts as prisoners. They are worth more in exchange than soldiers who are actively fighting in the war. The pressure on Putin must be enormous now, as the Russian population sees their conscript sons in danger. As a parent in Russia, I would do anything to get my son out of captivity – the situation must be terrible for the parents.
I wonder, however, whether Russia was really as surprised as it seems. A large concentration of troops does not usually go unnoticed. It is quite possible that they were aware of the danger, but allowed this attack out of self-interest. Because now many might volunteer to defend Russia. Defense greatly increases morale, and perhaps that is exactly what they are speculating on.

  3. Even if it was true, it doesn't make up for the fact that Ukraine's desperate attempt to take over Kursk nuclear power plant has miserably failed and thousands of Ukrainians have died once again for nothing.

  4. Putin is a crazy criminal who constantly shows his muscles and kills people for nothing. Europe should build a nice wall and let them be happy in their fate with Putin.
